学生たちをはじめ、 ものを考えている人たちは、 知と無縁な人々のことを 勘定に入れないんです。 生まれて、生きて、 どんどん知的になることを 義務だというふうに学校では教える。 ものを知っていくことの絶えざる切磋琢磨と、 よい人間になっていくという道が イコールになって結ばれて、 世の中は動いていると思い込んでいるわけです。

けれども、それはごく一部の人たちの、 一種のドグマにしかすぎない。
