池田香代子ブログ : 1965年沖縄　「少女轢殺」　報道写真家嬉野京子の証言　 - ライブドアブログ “4月20日、宜野座村に入りました。小学校で休憩に入ったとたん、「子どもがひき殺された！」。なんと行進団の目の前で、小さな女の子が米軍のトラックにひき殺されたのです。手に通園用のバッグを持ったまま。死んだ女の子の側に突っ立っているだけのアメリカ兵。しかし驚いたのは、駆けつけた日本の警察でした。米兵を逮捕するでもなく、軍用車がスムーズに走れるように交通整理をはじめたのです。 これを目の前にして何もしないわけにはいきません。「撮らせてほしい」と懇願しました。「生きて帰れないよ」と言われましたが、引きさがれませんでした。「わかった、見つからないようにぼくの肩越しに撮ってくれ」、一人の男性が肩を貸してくれ、たった一度押したシャッターがこの写真です。”
